Chapter 1: The Final Attempt
At the end of the first
run-through, the main space with the rocket to escape has been accessed.
You create a portal to
enter the rocket's cockpit area using the Portal. You will only have one chance
at entering it.
The rocket engine will glow
blue as it continues to fill the fuel in the fuel tank. Then, finally, it will
glow a brighter blue. At this point, the valve will open up, and the fuel will
fill the engine in the tank, allowing it to fire. As the fuel fills the engine,
the glow will dim, but the fuel will be pumped continuously into the engine. In
a matter of seconds, the fuel pump until the engine is almost complete, and the
valve will close and lock. Then, after a few seconds, the valve will open up
again and refill the engine until it is complete.
The fuel pump will then
shut off, and the engine can still fire in one continuous shot. Next, the
engine will turn on and then go out. Then, finally, it will turn on again, with
a simple boost, and be able to fire for two more seconds. Then, as the rocket
leaves, the fuel tank will begin to fill in a controlled manner.
After successfully reaching
the Portal, you will again be taken to the basement, where the robot will
remain. Finally, you will be presented with the Portal to the underground base.
Only you will be allowed to
enter this specific Portal without any attempt from the robot or others. Once
you go into the Portal, you will see a large stone wall as soon as you go in.
Once you enter the tunnel, you will be in the engine's cockpit area. It will
take you only a few seconds to complete this first run and be safely back
outside the station. After that, the Portal will remain open for a few seconds
and then close.
Following completing the
first run, you will find yourself outside in a dark tunnel. However, if you
have done an excellent job surviving in the tunnel, you will be in a space that
has been dug out. You will find a small walkway in the tunnel, which you can
use to move up to the top, where there will be a ladder to access a vent. Once
you go up and stand in front of the vent, you can access the underground base
by walking up to the top. After the main entrance has been accessed, you will
see a walkway heading in and a ramp leading up to the bottom.
Chapter
2: The Visit
The next time you go to the
underground base, you will be able to use portals to access the underground
base. After you have finished the Walkthrough and are standing in front of the
vent, you will get the chance to go inside the base and visit the robot. If you
follow through with the Walkthrough, you will be taken to the basement, where
the robot will stand.
The robot will be stunned
by the light from the Portal. The robot will attempt to turn around as it
realizes what is happening. However, it will be unable to turn around. It will
slowly stumble to the side of the room and attempt to flee. It will notice that
the machine gun is lying in front of the door to the underground base.
As it tries to run out of
the room, it will come across the machine gun, pick it up and start looking at
it.
The machine gun cannot
shoot anything, as it has no sight and is without ammo. Once the robot picks up
the machine gun, he will see a red laser hitting his body. He will fall to the
ground in front of the machine gun in a few moments. After he is on the ground,
the robot will slowly look up at you. It will see you standing at the top of
the ramp and then a red laser coming from the top. The robot will see you
staring at it and fall over backward. It will lie on the floor, with the
machine gun falling to the floor behind it. You will walk over to the robot,
and the robot will be unable to wake up.
Upon reaching the robot,
the Portal will close. However, the valve will not shut off entirely, as it
will slightly boost the engine. As a result, the engine will pump more fuel in,
and soon the valve will close entirely and send a stream of fuel into the
engine. If you had a free life tank at this point, you would only be able to
reach about 5% of your max fuel tank.
You will not be able to
walk up to the robot or pump more fuel into the engine, as the valve will lock
to prevent you from moving too close to the robot.
After leaving the base, you
will again find yourself in a tunnel. However, you will notice that the machine
gun is lying at the top of the tunnel. Following the walkway, you will continue
to the top and reach the machine gun. You will quickly pick up the gun and
follow the walkway.
After coming out of the
tunnel, you will walk down a small path to the top, where you will find a short
walkway leading down into the first room. If you have done an excellent job
surviving in the tunnel, you will be in a space that has been dug out. You will
find a small walkway in the tunnel, which you can use to move up to the top,
where there will be a ladder to access a vent. Once you go up and stand in
front of the vent, you can access the underground base by walking up to the
top.
Following
the walkway down, you will see the surface of a lake.
Following the path, you
will continue to follow the walkway. You will then enter a large room with a
walkway leading down into a lake. Unfortunately, the walkway is broken and will
not go any further.
